“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday celebrates who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. The suggested date for the 2016 dedicated day of service is Sunday, Sept. 11.
Add advocacy to your day of service this year, recognizing our Lutheran commitment to both charity and justice. For example, if your day of service project addresses hunger, also send messages to Congress on Child Nutrition Reauthorization. Involve the entire congregation in a letter writing project on an issue of local, state-wide or national concern.
Including the #ELCAvotes! initiative in “God’s work. Our hands” planning is an option for every congregation. Online resources are available, including:
Don’t forget to share stories and pictures of your efforts using #ELCAvotes on social media!
