In a nation of great abundance, everyone should have access to
quality and affordable health care, no matter our income, gender or background.
Unfortunately, current legislation in Congress would make it harder for millions
of Americans to access affordable health care. All of the legislation drafted
so far was crafted behind closed doors and makes deep cuts to Medicaid--essential
healthcare for seniors, veterans, children and working families. Sadly, the proposals increase costs for those
who can least afford it. Without our voices, Senators on both sides of the
aisle would not stand up against these terrible proposals, which, as drafted, would
cut coverage for at least 22 million people. We must continue making our
