Nathan's year of service in Mexico
Hello all!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Nathan DeLuca. This August, I will have the amazing opportunity to serve in Mexico with the ELCA's Young Adult in Global Mission (YAGM) program! I am truly grateful for this experience and the support I have had from my friends and family along the way.
As a part of my call to serve, I am asked to raise at least $6,000 to help support my journey. I ask that you please help me reach my goal with a donation today. No donation is too small and every dollar of the $6,000 will go directly towards my service in Mexico. Through your donation, you join me on this journey as I grow in my own faith and walk in partnership with our global companions. I will also be sending out newsletters throughout my time in Mexico to keep you all in the loop! I am thrilled to think about the ways in which this year will form and transform me.
My Journey so Far
I have been so blessed to have grown up in the Lutheran church and to be a part of the ELCA. I started attending church in middle school at Ascension Lutheran Church in Towson, Maryland. I have met so many friends and made so many memories through my faith. While at the University of Maryland, I joined the Lutheran Campus Ministry called The Humble Walk. I have been able to travel to many different places through The Humble Walk and it has shown me the importance of learning how others live life through their faith. I love building community and it is my goal to create relationships and life-long memories while in Mexico. I want to continue to grow in my faith and take you all along with me!
This page is set up to receive donations from individuals only. If you’re giving on behalf of a congregation or other organization, please visit ELCA.org/YAGMgive or get in touch with me for information on how to give via check.
About Young Adults in Global Mission
The ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program provides young adults, ages 21-29, the opportunity to grow in their faith and work in partnership with our global companions. Young adults in the program serve in churches, schools and social service ministries. Currently the program is engaged in work in Argentina and Uruguay, Australia, Central Europe (Hungry and Serbia), Jerusalem and the West Bank, Madagascar, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, Senegal, and the United Kingdom.
The total cost for one young adult in the program is $18,000. Each young adult is tasked with raising a minimum of $6,000 to help support their year of service. The ELCA commits to raising the additional $12,000 per volunteer through generous congregations and individual donors. If more than $6,000 in gifts is received, the additional funds will help support other young adult volunteers and the future of the Young Adults in Global Mission program.
