Hello, my name is Elizabeth Cote!

I am excited to be serving as a volunteer for the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program! I am going to Senegal, Africa on August 19th! I will be one of 25 young adults serving on behalf of the ELCA in 6 different country programs around the world!

I have been wanting to be a part of this program since hearing about it in high school. I applied in 2020 and 2021 but COVID hit. I am ready for YAGM to help me grow in confidence and gain new skills. I am so thrilled to finally be able to attend this program and see what God has in store for my future. I like this program because of its openness and its purpose. I know a few people who have done this program and have wonderful things to say about it! I am most excited to meet new people, learn about the culture, and help others. I am also exhilarated to learn more about myself.

A little bit about me....

I have a younger sister and a younger brother and many cats. I have been an active Lutheran my whole life. I have attended various church activities, been a camp counselor, and have been involved in campus ministry. I like to learn and participate in various activities and excited for new opportunities this adventure has in store. I like to be active, be outside, read, journal, travel, and spend time with family and friends.

I am thankful for my support system and the support I have received. It has been incredible. I am grateful for any support, especially prayers and thoughts! If you are able to donate financially, I appreciate any amount. I will be writing newsletters and updating my supporters through various ways. I am excited for you to follow my journey! As part of accepting this call, I am asked to raise at least $6,000. My congregation has graciously raised $6,000 but any additional funds goes toward the program and the participants. I only need to fundraise 1/3 of the total but it costs $18,000 for a volunteer. Please help me reach my goal by supporting my fundraising efforts with a donation today. Through prayer and donations, please join me on this journey as I grow in my own faith and walk in partnership with our global companions. I am thrilled to think about the ways in which this year will form and transform me.

About Young Adults in Global Mission

The ELCA's Young Adults in Global Mission program provides young adults, ages 21-35, the opportunity to grow in their faith and work in partnership with our global companions. Young adults in the program serve in churches, schools, and social service ministries. Currently the program is engaged in work in Argentina and Uruguay, Central Europe (Hungary and Serbia), Mexico, Senegal, Cambodia, and the United Kingdom.
