“Christ, Be Our Light” (ELW 715)

I committed to biking 715 miles over the past summer but a bike accident ending up with a bone broken in my hand stopped me at 448 miles.  Friends and family donated miles to the cause - 1,142 miles!   What great support, and I'm so grateful for the team of riders and contributors and pray-ers and much more through this fund raising effort for the Global Farm Challenge!

This fund raising page doesn't account for checks received and I'm thrilled to report that in addition to the amount registered on my TEAM ELCA page of $5,360,  I have $7860 in checks that have been turned over to the EaND Synod. Wow - that means an updated total of almost NINETEEN farms are in the books and those will be doubled by matching gifts, so that will be ABOUT 37 family farms!   TOTAL INCOME SO FAR IS $13,220!  With matching gift this amount is $26,440.  Takes my breath away.

A reminder about what we are providing:

For $715 a family receives a cow, a couple of goats, a dozen chicks, two pigs, farming tools, seeds, and agricultural training and support!  I keep thinking this is such a small amount of money for all of this, but such a gift will make all the difference for a family hoping to escape the cycle of poverty for good.  

You have been generous with heart and soul and mind - and shared our blessings around the world in this wonderful opportunity to work for change.  To turn a hungry world into a hopeful world!
