Support our ELCA World Hunger Daily Bread Matching Grant fundraiser!
"And taking the five loaves and the two fish, [Jesus] looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces" (Luke 9:16-17).
As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's (ELCA) ongoing response to hunger, our congregation is partnering with ELCA World Hunger to raise funds for our feeding ministry through a Daily Bread Matching Grant.
In the New Britain area, an effort is being made to feed the homeless and less fortunate throughout the week. At First Lutheran we provide a breakfast Monday morning consisting of hard boil eggs, pastry, bagels and choice of either a chicken salad or egg salad sandwich, coffee and juice. Wednesday is pizza day with choice of either sausage, pepperoni or cheese pizza with coffee or iced tea. Also, we have donations of chips and bread which is also distributed. Each week we serve between 100-125 free meals to those whoever want it.
We need your help to support our two feeding Ministries at FLCR for our neighbors with the Pasta Supper and Monday Morning Mingle. ELCA World Hunger is kickstarting our fundraiser with a $500 grant. With your help, we can raise $500 or more to match the grant from ELCA World Hunger. This campaign begins June 3rd, and we have 2 weeks until Sunday, June 20th to meet our goal. Every gift truly makes a difference — thank you for your support!
