DO something. Move FORWARD.

May Goal: 250 miles, $250
Progress: AS OF 5/13-- 117 miles this month (May 2016)
Goal by May 2017: 1,800 miles, $1,800
Each month of the year I will highlight a global goal of the United Nations. Thanks in part to the forward thinking work of ELCA WOrld Hunger leaders I was part of the Lutheran delegation that traveled to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in March 2016 I learned a lot about the role we must play in working with our world partners toward addressing the fundamental rights and dignity of all of God's creation. The UN has adopted 15 Goals and we must work to implement ways to accomplish these goals.
Goal 1 is "NO POVERTY" Imagine what that might look like. Imagine how accomplishing just this one goal would impact the world. Notice all of the ways ELCA World Hunger is already working toward this goal. Take this goal to prayer. Notice the ways God is calling on you to act.
This month I will be adding miles to my goal by riding as often as possible and by participating in some rides for a cause. On May 21 I will spend the morning at Amy's Ride/Run/Walk and then head join in the synod sponsored Bike for World Hunger event. It will be a full day of active witness to faith that calls us to love of neighbor. The Bike for World Hunger is one of my favorite things our synod does as a boy of Christ. I like being part of a hodge-podge group of disciples who ride, roll and walk miles together in support of ELCA World Hunger action. When I ride my bike I experience freedom. And freedom is what God is what God is calling us to in the work of care for all creation. Freedom movement requires us to name injusice and work for healing and wholeness for all of God's people.
Thank you for joining me and for your support – every gift, every act, every prayer truly matters!
