Shauna's Table
2019 marks ten years that we've been around without Shauna. We share so many memories, of course. From the hysterically funny to the tragic to the simply unbelievable. Like the Jewett Park Cross-country Foot and Squad Car race?
Did you know that in grade school she got in trouble a few times for sharing her candy--with everyone? Apparently it was disruptive. In a way that sums her up pretty well, doesn't it? She was eager to share all she had, regardless of cost and no matter what disruption she might (hopefully!) create.
What she shared best, in my view, was her love. And once her love lit your world it never dimmed. No matter what you said, no matter what she did, the light of her love did not leave you. Can you can still feel it sparkling, bubbling, and giggling all at the same time?
As an act or two to honor her life, I ask us all to do two things: First, share a toast or a prayer to share thanks for how her beautifully boundless heart touched your life. Second, overshare your love and gifts with people who need them.
One way to convert your dollars into love is to add your gift to Shauna's Table. Funds go directly to the powerful and effective ELCA World Hunger initiative. More on that team below.
Shauna's Table places our dollars into expert hands positioned to place a lot more than food and water on a table. ELCA World Hunger delivers real solutions--health, water, income, education, food security, and more--that can end hunger in the long term.
I will be adding my gifts throughout the year, including her birthday on 19 September. This gives us all time to share as early and as often we'd like. No amount is too small, or too big. The goal is a minimum; no limits!
With this act, you know that somewhere in the US or the world your love graces a table and will return to you tenfold.
And please be in touch. We have memories to share, too!
