Help us receive an ELCA World Hunger "Daily Bread" matching grant
All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. (Acts 2:44-47)
Dear Partners in the Gospel:
Once again the Food Pantry at Christ Lutheran Church, Washington, DC, has been awarded a "Daily Bread" matching grant from ELCA World Hunger. With this grant, the ELCA recognizes that our pantry is an important part of World Hunger's mission to build "a just world where all are fed."
For this matching grant effort, we hope to raise $3,500. This is a big goal, but we have faith that, with God's help, we can reach it. The money we raise, plus the matching grant, will returned by the ELCA to Christ Lutheran for the work of its pantry, which offers non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products for residents of two supportive housing apartment buildings in Washington, DC.
To quality for the matching grant, all gifts must be made through this page. Donations are being received during the period November 8 - November 22, 2020.
The image from Acts is of a glad and generous people breaking bread, sharing communion, sharing community. It is a powerful picture in this present fractured time. I am thankful for your faithfulness in responding to this call to share.
