Welcome to Kerry's Personal Page!
Hi there! Thank you for visiting my page and for your consideration in donating to my year of service through the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program. As many of you know, being in service with, and for, others is fundamental to my life’s purpose. From a young age I have felt called to serve others; this call has taken me to places abroad -- some of you might remember my summer in Ghana -- and likewise, to places around the Pacific Northwest (California, Idaho, and Oregon) with my youth group. As my desire to serve others has grown and developed, so has my understanding of how I want to serve others. I have found that my personal values of pursing justice, equity, inclusion, and sustainability are in direct alignment with the values of the YAGM program. YAGM, and the ELCA at large, acknowledge the harm that the church has caused in the past and are working towards a more just future. Therefore, this program does not seek to change those who it serves; rather, YAGM seeks to change and transform the lives of their volunteers in a way that encourages the adoption of a more global perspective and a justice-centered faith!
It is with great excitement I have accepted the opportunity to serve as a Young Adults in Global Mission volunteer in.... drum roll please.... Buenos Aires, Argentina (woohoo!) starting in August (August 19th to be exact). I will be one of more than 70 young adults serving on behalf of the ELCA in 7 different country/region programs around the world! If you're interested in staying up to date with me while I am in Argentina, I encourage you to follow my blog -- which I will be updating weekly. :) The link to my blog will be posted on my website soon! In Buenos Aires I will be volunteering at a care facility for elderly folks and people with disabilities. I am excited to learn about the many different ways to care for people while also enhancing my Spanish skills.
As part of accepting this call, I am asked to raise at least $5,000. Please help me reach my goal by supporting my fundraising efforts with a donation today. Through your donation, you join me on this journey as I grow in my own faith and walk in partnership with our global companions. I am thrilled to think about the ways in which this year will form and transform me.
Support me for one day, week or month!
I am very grateful for however much you are able to donate. YAGM has provided me with a breakdown of how varying monetary donations will help support me: You can support me for one day for $50, one week for $350 or even a whole month for $1,500. The total cost for my year of service is $15,000 over (almost) a year. I will be so grateful for your support in any amount. Thank you — your gift truly matters!
This page is set up to receive donations from individuals only. If you’re giving on behalf of a congregation or other organization, please visit ELCA.org/YAGMgive or read below to learn how to donate via check.

About Young Adults in Global Mission
The ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program provides young adults, ages 21-29, the opportunity to grow in their faith and work in partnership with our global companions. Young adults in the program serve in churches, schools and social service ministries. Currently the program is engaged in work in Argentina and Uruguay, Australia, Central Europe (Hungry and Serbia), Jerusalem and the West Bank, Madagascar, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, Senegal, and the United Kingdom.
The total cost for one young adult in the program is $15,000. Each young adult is tasked with raising a minimum of $5,000 to help support their year of service. The ELCA commits to raising the additional $10,000 per volunteer through generous congregations and individual donors. If more than $5,000 in gifts is received, the additional funds will help support other young adult volunteers and the future of the Young Adults in Global Mission program.
