About Global Farm Challenge

About Global Farm Challenge

"And taking the five loaves and the two fish, [Jesus] looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces" (Luke 9:16-17).

As you plan for new activities and events this summer for youth, we invite you to join us in ELCA World Hunger’s Global Farm Challenge, a youth-focused, whole-church campaign to accompany our neighbors who are facing threats of hunger and poverty around the world.

We know that the world faces many challenges right now. But we also know that God’s promise of a just world where all are fed is being fulfilled through communities around the world and through our church. We need your help: join us in the Global Farm Challenge and be part of what God is doing to lead us toward a future filled with hope.

How it works

The goal is to raise $525,000 to equip communities around the world and in the United States with livestock, seeds, tools and training to turn a hungry season into a hopeful season. Together we can make a difference – creating healthier families, stronger economies and a future filled with hope.

You and your congregation can join in this challenge by creating your team page, and individual pages for your team members. Then as you engage and learn this summer using the Global Farm Challenge Action Guide, fundraise from family, friends and congregation members.

  • Step 1: Form a team, join a team or create your individual login for the Global Farm Challenge page.
  • Step 2: Set a team fundraising goal. Set a goal that you believe your team can reach and that will challenge your donors. Every dollar up to $525,000 is matched by ELCA World Hunger's generous donors.
  • Step 3: Lead your youth and congregation in activities from the Global Farm Challenge Action Guide. Learning and making a hands-on difference on hunger in your community is part of the Global Farm Challenge.
  • Step 4: Celebrate your donors and your goals! Use template emails and social media posts in your Participant Center to thank your donors and plan to celebrate your goals IRL with your team, your youth and your whole congregation.
